Jefferson Parish Deputy Christopher Paul Ohlmeyer, 41, of River Ridge, has been identified as the victim of a fatal motorcycle accident that occurred Friday in New Orleans. The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office announced his death, which came as a tragic loss to the law enforcement community. Sheriff Joseph Lopinto confirmed that Deputy Ohlmeyer was struck from behind by another vehicle while performing a funeral escort in the Hollygrove area around 11:40 a.m.

Ohlmeyer was a dedicated officer with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office for 14 years. Since graduating from the Training Academy in 2014, he served in various divisions, including 11 years in the Fourth District and most recently in the Traffic Division, where he qualified as a motorman. His commitment to public service was evident to colleagues and community members alike. Following the collision, Ohlmeyer was transported to a nearby hospital but tragically succumbed to his injuries.

A River Ridge resident, Ohlmeyer was highly regarded by those who knew him. Family members describe him as a loving husband and father. The driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash was also hospitalized and received medical treatment.
